FAQ

Q: What is the lifetime of a foam roof?

A: Without maintenance, a foam roof will last at least 20 years.  As recommended, if you periodically maintain your foam roof with the protective acrylic coating, your roof will last the lifetime of the building or home.

Q: How often do I need to have the protective coating applied to my foam roof?

A: It is recommended to add an additional layer of the protective acrylic coating over time, increasing the integrity and maintaining the high quality of your roof system, while saving you money in the long run.  Once a "second coat" of the protective acrylic is applied to the roof at the 6-year mark, on average, the roof will not require an additional coating for about a quarter of a century after the initial installation!  The cost for the coating is about a quarter of the cost of having replace a roof with other roofing systems.  The foam roof system saves you a bundle over time compared to other roof systems that have to be replaced on average about 10 years.

Q: How much does it cost to have subsequent protective coatings applied to my foam roof?

A: About a 1/4 of the original foam roof cost.

Q: What if I never re-coat my foam roof?

A: Without maintaining the integrity of the foam roof with the protective acrylic coating,  UV degradation will cause pits to form in the foam layer over time.  These pits will become deeper, and can allow water leakage after several years. When the foam had been damaged due to the lack of long term protection of acrylic coatings, the roof will be damaged and must be replaced.

Q: Is there any regular maintenance for my foam?

A: We highly recommend that your follow the maintenance schedule below to ensure that your foam roof will last the lifetime of your building or home.

Roof age (years) Maintenance
0 Installation of foam roof and protective acrylic coating
5 One recoat with protective acrylic coating
5-15 Three free roof inspections for the next 15 years, in 5-year increments.  When we do our free roof inspections, your roof may or may not need minor touch ups.  If we do need to perform minor touch-ups, it is very affordable and will ensure the integrity of your foam roof system.
20-25 One recoat with protective acrylic coating
20+ Free roof inspections in 5-year increments, and minor touch ups and coatings as needed

Q: What kind of warranty do you offer for my foam roof system?

A: We offer a "10-year leak-proof" guarantee on your foam roof.

Q: How long does the foam roof installation process take?

A: It only takes 1 to 3 days to compete residential and small commercial projects, and 3 to 6 days for larger commercial/industrial projects.

Q: Is it possible to install additions, skylights, vents, or conduits on in my foam roof?

A:  We can install skylights, and can coordinate with your installation contractor for other roof penetrations (vents, electrical work, pipes, etc.)

Q: How will a foam roof cost?

A: We offer high quality service and very competitive rates for our foam roof system. Roof foam systems are slightly more expensive than a "built-up roof systems" that do not include insulation. We happy to offer you a free estimate specific to your project.

Q: What makes foam roofs so energy efficient?

A: Foam roof systems have a reflective surface coating that is certified by Energy Star for its efficiency.  These surfaces are classified as a "Cool Roof System." In addition, the polyurethane foam material qualities make it an excellent insulator, and when applied, the foam forms a watertight seal that seals roof penetrations and edges.

Q: How much cooler will my foam roof make my building/house?

A: Your foam roof system will make the interior of your building or home up to 20ºF cooler in the summer in a building without air conditioning!

Q: Are there substantial energy savings with a foam roof?

A:  Foam roof systems are a superior insulator, drastically improve your energy efficiency.  Your foam roof will result in an annual savings of 30%, and upwards of 60% or more on your energy utilities.

Q: What fire rating does a foam roof have?

A: Our foam roof has a Class A fire rating.
